ROOTED IN FIRE

Rooted in Fire represents a vivid, symbolic world where transformation emerges from the tangled roots of memory and inheritance. Masks, paintings, and ceramic objects become vessels through which Juno (Jaclyn Martinez) weaves personal mythology with archetypal imagery, blurring the line between inner experience and collective myth.
Fire, roots, orchids, thorny branches, crocodiles, fawns, and a constellation of other motifs recur as potent symbols, each one a thread in the tapestry of healing and identity. The paintings act as narrative landscapes, while the masks embody facets of the artist’s inner cast of characters. The ceramic pieces and sculpted objects hold space for the tension between fragility and strength.
Juno’s work moves through cycles of destruction and rebirth, vulnerability and power. Figures and forms inspired by feminine mythologies emerge in vibrant, surreal environments that suggest both peril and possibility. As personal and mythic stories intertwine, Rooted in Fire becomes an altar to transformation. Each mask, painting, and sculptural form functions as a vessel for psychological and emotional alchemy, proposing that healing is not linear but cyclical and deeply rooted in both personal and collective memory.
